Day Seven of a Tale of Two Cities

On our last day in England one of the things we did was go to Oxford University. This is the Radcliffe Camera at Oxford. It holds the Radcliffe Science Library.

This is the view of Oxford from our punting trip.

Here is a picture of Stonehege.
.Below is a picture of what historians think Stonehege used to look like. That night we went on an overnight ferry to France.

Day Six of a Tale of Two Cities

I took a picture of this bust because it is of Charles Dickens, the author of the book in which our trip is named after.
Here is a picture of my ticket to The Roman Baths.
Here is a picture of the Roman Baths.
This is a picture of what is thought to be the Gorgon's head one of the symbols of their goddess Sulis Minerva.
This is the head of the goddess Sulis Minerva, the goddess that was worshiped in the Roman Baths Temple.
This was found near the Baths, it is a lead letter that was burned thought to have gone to their goddess.
Here are some of the things that were found thought to be used as offerings.
This is a mason's mark found on some of the stones. A mason's mark was a mason's stamp so you would know the stone came from him.
This is one of the the gems from a signet ring that was found in the drain.

                                           The drain.

                                         The Baths.
Each of those rocks had a slab on them so they could work as massage tables.

Day Five of a Tale of Two Cities

After a good nights rest we went back to Warwick Castle and did things such as go through the haunted dungeon, and walk around the top of the castle. Above and below are pictures from the top of the castle.

Then around lunchtime we headed to Stratford-Upon-Avon. Above and below are pictures of Shakespeare's birthplace.

I thought this was cool, it is a bank and it has carvings of Shakespeare and the other carvings are scenes from Shakespeare's plays.

Next we went into one of the churches and I took a lot of pictures. Above is an organ but it wasn't always an organ. A few pictures below is a picture of what it used to be.
Above is a beautiful mural, but sadly it has faded. There is a picture on this post of it in its prime.
Above and below are some beautiful stained glass windows.

There used to be pews where the organ is today.
Then they took them out.
Here is the picture of the mural in its prime.
Next we went to the church where Shakespeare is buried. Below is the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Day Four of a Tale of Two Cities

To begin the fourth day of our journey we went on a tour and saw some more neat things. Above is a church if you noticed the holes in the walls that is bomb damage from WWII.
This is another church that was bombed that was on the unluckier side. All that was left standing was  a few walls and the steeple. Now it is a garden, below is a picture.

This is the Fire of London monument to commerate where the fire started.
Do you Disney Lovers recognize this place? Yes, it is the place where they shot the song "Feed The Birds" in the movie Mary Poppins.

Above is Simpsons which is famous for being in the Sherlock Holmes books and holding the National Chess Club Championship.

                                                           Big Ben

Next we went to the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
You can tell how the weather was that day at Buckingham Palace. Nasty!!!

Next we went to Warwick Castle and here are some pictures.

It was creepy the peacocks were just running around. What was cool was that we got to stay after hours and learn how to sword fight, shoot a bow and arrow, and much more.
